Vision for Geography
At Dove Bank we aim to create a high-quality Geography curriculum which will help children to become knowledgeable and understand the country and the world we live in.
Dove Bank children are encouraged to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it.
Geography is an investigative subject, which develops an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills.
Subject Leader Biography
Hello my name is Mr Booth and I have the pleasure of leading Geography at Dove Bank.
I enjoy Geography and feel that the skills we use in Geography are useful in many other areas.
Subject priorities
Develop an extensive base of geographical knowledge and vocabulary, for example vocabulary to describe key physical and human features such as: vegetation, continents, tectonic etc.
Develop a secure knowledge and understanding of location knowledge. Children should have a clear knowledge of where our we are in our country and where our country is in the world. They should also be able to locate cities, rivers and seas.
Develop geographical skills and fieldwork. Children should be able to maps, atlases, globes and digital mapping, to locate countries and describe the physical features.
